Title and Metas

Accessing Title and Metas

You can access the Titles and Metas settings page by going to "SEO" -> "Title and Metas" on the left-hand menu.


Available Options

General

Force rewrite titles: Set whether the "Yoast SEO" plugin should force rewrite titles of Static Content and Pages. This option is set by the "Yoast SEO" plugin by default, depending on whether it auto-detects that this is required or not, but can be changed if required.

Title Separator: Set the title separator symbol used in meta titles for Static Content and Pages. This separates the Static Content/Page title from the site title in the meta title.

Homepage

This is just a notification that you can change the meta title of the front page by editing the Page that is set to be used as the front page in the "Settings" -> "Reading" config options.

Post Types

Set the default options for each post type in Wordpress. By default, there is only Static Content, Pages, and Media, but your website may have others if they have been setup.
Title template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta title.

Meta description template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta description.

Meta Robots: Set if the post should default to "index" or "noindex". Setting this to "noindex" will stop pages from being indexed by search engines, and will harm your SEO rating.

Date in Snippet Preview: Set if the published date should be included in the snippet preview of Static Content/Pages.

Yoast SEO Meta Box: Set if the "Yoast SEO" metabox should be displayed for the post type.

Taxonomies

Set the default options for each taxonomy in Wordpress. By default, there is only Content Groups, Tags, and Format, but your website may have others if they have been setup.
Title template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta title.

Meta description template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta description.

Meta Robots: Set if the post should default to "index" or "noindex". Setting this to "noindex" will stop pages from being indexed by search engines, and will harm your SEO rating.

Yoast SEO Meta Box: Set if the "Yoast SEO" metabox should be displayed for the taxonomy.

Format-based archives: Set if format-based archives should be enabled or not.

Archives

Author Archives Settings
Author archives: Set if the "Author archives" should be enabled or disabled.

Title template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta title.

Meta description template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta description.

Meta Robots: Set if the post should default to "index" or "noindex". Setting this to "noindex" will stop pages in the archive from being indexed by search engines, and will harm your SEO rating.

Date Archives Settings
Date archives: Set if "Date archives" should be enabled or disabled.

Title template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta title.

Meta description template: Set the default template to be used when generating a new meta description.

Meta Robots: Set if the post should default to "index" or "noindex". Setting this to "noindex" will stop pages in the archive from being indexed by search engines, and will harm your SEO rating.

Special Pages
Set the "Title template" for search and 404 pages. These will override the meta title settings for search or 404 Pages that have been setup.

Other
Subpages of archives: Set if subpages of archives should be set to "index" or "noindex". If they are set to "noindex" the will not be visible in search results.

Use meta keywords tag: Set whether the meta keywords tag should be included on the site. These have largely been depreciated by modern search engines, but if required, they can be activated here.

Force noodp meta robots tag sitewide: Set whether the noodp meta robots tag should be included sitewide. If a custom meta description is set for Static Content/a Page, this tag will be included on that page by default.
